Attendees at AAUW-Illinois Fall District Conference-South at Richland Community College in Decatur were treated to an excellent presentation by SIU-Carbondale professor Laura Dreuth Zeman.
As a professor of social work, Laura has done research on complex topics and has given considerable thought to her role as a member of “the helping professions.” She has been aided in this by the writings of Jane Addams, especially an article called “The Subtle Problems with Charity” originally published by Addams in The Atlantic Monthly in 1899.
