CHM Program Details-12/8/07 (pdf)
Planning for the Jane Addams Day Celebration at the Chicago History Museum is now complete. (Note that the first annual Jane Addams Day will be 12/10/07, but since that’s a Monday, AAUW-Illinois has scheduled most of its events on Saturday 12/8.) The program will begin at 10 AM & has three primary components:
LECTURE: Charles J. Masters, author of Governor Henry Horner, Chicago Politics, and The Great Depression, will describe the Chicago that Jane Addams found when she moved here in 1889, as well as the reform activities that helped make Chicago what it is today.
PLAY: Next, a performance of The Halsted Street Play in the tradition of Reader’s Theatre. A Hull-House resident wrote the play for a cast made up of immigrants from Hull-House & its neighborhood.
FILM: Finally, a screening of Dinner at Jane’s, a 50-minute documentary by Suzanne Lacy made at Hull-House in 1993. A group of women activists recall the past & envision the future in a context rich with significance.
Complete details will be found in the pdf (attached).
Hope to see you at the CHM on 12/8!
