After over a year of intense planning, AAUW-Illinois welcomed citizens from all around metro Chicago to our Jane Addams Day celebration at the Chicago History Museum. Our guests including numerous Fulbright Fellows sponsored by the International Visitors Center of Chicago, as well as a sizeable contingent from Congregation Kol-Ami who had specifically come to hear keynote speaker Charles J. Masters (aka “Chuck”). Nancy Daughtery, President of AAUW-Illinois, came all the way from Springfield, & Cindy Vines, the teacher from southern Illinois who organized the original initiative, came from Carbondale. We were all thrilled that AAUW’s national president, Ruth Sweetser, was able to join us as well. (Altho Ruth lives in Lombard, her organizational responsibilities frequently find her out-of-state on the weekends.)
