Spirit Award Noms

Please, please just kill me now & put me out of my misery!  Spirit Nominees for 2010 just announced & NO WOMEN (no not one) in Best Director category!!!  Not Jane Campion (for BRIGHT STAR), not Lone Scherfig (for AN EDUCATION), & not even Cherien Dabis (altho AMREEKA is in the Best Feature category).  And of course not Kathryn Bigleow because they snubbed her last year after THE HURT LOCKER’s Toronto premiere. (Yes, we do know for sure that KB was snubbed last year because both Mackie & Renner were nominated in the acting categories).  Regular readers already know I think both PRECIOUS & SIN NOMBRE have been way over-hyped.  I haven’t seen THE LAST STATION yet, so I’ll try to be fair about Michael Hoffman, but James Gray for TWO LOVERS??? Puh-Leez!!!  Oh, please just kill me now because I’ll never make it to Oscar Night (3/5/10) at this rate 🙁
