Spark & Hustle 2012

Are YOU a Smart Movie Consumer???

Yesterday Monica Smith (FF2’s Social Media Manager) & I headed to Oak Brook for Tory Johnson’s 2012 Spark & Hustle. We had a great time, met many interesting people, &  yes, of course, we even sold & signed copies of Penny’s Picks!

Thanks to FF2 Publicist Jeff Marden for setting everything up for us. Thanks too to Marion Gold for creating all the great marketing materials (bookmarks, postcards & table signs) built on logos & book jackets designed by Melissa Wilks.

And here’s feedback from someone we meet there:

“Jan, I plowed through your book PENNY’S PICKS that I got at Chicago ‘Spark and Hustle’ on Tue. Had to get out the highlighter, which meant it was serious… I enjoyed your writing style and reading the female/feminist slant on the movies. It made me realize how long it’s been since my ‘feminist’ days, not that they ever really go away it’s just that we’re so innudated with male stuff, you sometimes have to make the effort to consciously connect. I was happy that I had seen so many of the movies but then shocked to realize I had never even heard of many. Of course now I’m going to re-watch your picks that I have on DVD and see if can Netflix some of the others. Looking forward to being a regular reader of your blog…”

Thanks, Laura! YOU helped make Tuesday a great day for us 🙂

We did a whole lot of talking about Nora Ephron on Tues!

NOTE: Jan took the photo of Monica & Monica took the photo of Jan. Meanwhile “Rosy the Riveter” guarded our cash!
