“Hayley” (Emily Browning) has it all: promising career as an edgy singer/songwriter; gorgeous husband “Carter” (Cam Gigandet); adorable twin baby boys. Then her brother/musical partner “Jack” (Thomas Dekker) dies of a drug overdose & her world teeters on the edge of collapse.
Director Catherine Hardwicke, with her typical in-your-face style, pushes intensity to the max until “Enzo” the new guitarist (Xavier Samuel) careens over the edge. (JLH: 3/5)
