NYC Shout-Out: 7 Boxes opens today (2/7/14) at the Cinema Village.
Kudos to directing team Juan Carlos Maneglia & Tana Schembori from Paraguay. Their amazingly propulsive new feature takes Hollywood crime tropes & spins them into home-grown gold!
“Victor” (Celso Franco) is a teenager who works as a delivery boy in the Asunción market. Thru a series of coincidences, he finds himself entrusted with 7 sealed boxes & the chase is on!
By the next dawn, we have met a huge cast of good guys, bad guys & everyone in between, while growing to love a new place both foreign & familiar. Wow! (JLH: 4.5/5)
Highly Recommended by both me & Rich. Click HERE for our FF2 Haiku.

Question: Does 7 Boxes pass the Bechdel Test?
Answer: As improbable as it may seem given the brief description above, the answer is definitely yes. In the midst of all this mayhem, Maneglia & Schembori have created a few wonderful women characters who have names & talk to each other about something other than a man. Double Wow!!!
