KINGSMAN

KingsmanPFull Title = Kingsman: The Secret Service

A throwback to the mid-60s when Sean Connery made James Bond movies so much fun to watch. Colin Firth is terrific as “Galahad”–in his best “shaken not stirred” mode–teaching young “Eggsy Unwin” (Taron Egerton) the tricks of his trade.

With help from Michael Caine in the M role, Mark Strong in the Q role, and Samuel L. Jackson hamming it up as a 21st Century Goldfinger.

Special shout-out to composers Henry Jackman & Matthew Margeson for doing such a great job channeling the late great John Barry. And kudos to Arianne Phillips for leading the costume design team.

Bottom Line: Director Matthew Vaughn & screenwriter Jane Goldman have created another improbably giddy delight. (JLH: 4/5)

Q: Does Kingsman pass the Bechdel Test?

What a joke! Of course not!

Women in this film do not have conversations with other women. Kingsman is all about the guys, and sometimes that’s just fine.
