Five films either written or directed by women filmmakers opened in Manhattan theaters this week:
Of these five, so far I’ve seen two. One — Miss Americana — is a doc. Four — The Assistant, Gul Makai, The Rhythm Section, The Traitor — are narrative features.
My Top Pick for July 12th (drumroll please!) is The Assistant, a film about the trials and tribulations of being an office assistant.
